Jerusalem is home to a significant number of museums, topped by The Israel Museum, established in 1965 as Israel's national museum. It is Israel’s largest cultural institution, and one of the biggest museums in the world. Situated on a hill in the Givat Ram neighborhood, the museum contains over 500,000 art objects and artifacts, representing a variety of cultures from around the globe. It holds collections of Israeli art, international art and Judaica, as well as world-leading collections focusing on archaeology and ethnography. Other museums in the city dedicated to art are The Museum of Islamic Art, Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art and Ticho House.
