Jerusalem might be filled with centuries of history, but it’s not less relevant when it comes to contemporary art. Manofim Festival of Contemporary Art takes place in the city every fall, bringing together dozens of galleries, art venues and cultural establishments. Great works of contemporary art are always on display at The Israel Museum, whose contemporary art collection has been developed since the early 1970s and 1980s.
The Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, together with other art schools like Musrara and the photography department at Hadassah Academic College, educates numerous aspiring artists in Israel, bringing forward the artistic theory, skills, and mindset required for creating contemporary art.
